According to Health Canada, Canada Tabacco Use Monitoring Survey, Annual Results of 1999 and 2010: no.
In 1999, 51% of Canadians like to light up, and half claim ed having quit, while the other half going on strong. In 2010, the rate dropped a whopping 8% and only 17% are daily users. The other 26% are what the survey calls ''Former Smokers.'' The rate of smokers dropping can be blamed on many factors which changed the habit of smokers. According of StatCan.gc.ca/, the Tobacco Act had passed, causing drinkers, bingo addicts, bowlers, gamblers, as well as workers to stop multitasking in public spaces. In 2008, the smoking rooms were to be dismantled.
Going outside for a cigarette seems to have done the trick for 8% of Canadians, or perhaps that number affected by the amount which kicked the bucket due to smoking related diseases. So as of this moment on, I am going to suit up, go outside, and enjoy my lovely, tasty cigarette. Only ice freezes under 0 degree celius, not Canadians! I will report back and tell how this experiment pans out.
